Boost Your Cryptocurrency Security With These Hacks
Cryptocurrency has become as commonplace in modern society as millennials and their avocado toast.

Whether you are just getting your feet wet or you are a seasoned vet, the exponential earning potential and revolutionary decentralized system ensure there is room at the table for everyone – whether you’re rich, poor, or somewhere in between.
Despite it being a number of years since Bitcoins inception (2009) people who are just now digging their heels into crypto are still considered early adopters. And with experts predicting a single Bitcoin topping $100,000 in 2022, it may be wise to hop aboard the crypto train while it’s still at the station – and before all the competitively-priced seats are taken.
But with its biggest selling point also being its most pressing risk, exploring the untapped world of crypto means armoring yourself with security best practices that will protect your investment and identity in an industry swarming with scammers. You may not be at risk of the 2nd biggest crypto hack ever, but you should take this seriously nonetheles. Here are just a few basic ways that you should be using to keep your crypto secure while you rake in the big bucks (there are a dozen more in the free Crypto Security Check List)
3 Ways to Boost Your Crypto Security
- Only use a secure internet connection. The same goes for your online banking or any other personal business you are handling online. It is not recommended to log into your exchanges using free hotel wifi or on vacation somewhere if you are not sure the internet is secure. And whenever possible, use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) like Express VPN as an added safeguard.
- Use an encrypted email account for all cryptocurrency dealings. Just as technology evolves, so do the software hackers develop to steal your assets. Their software and systems can – and do – crack even the toughest of passwords and the securest of firewalls, leaving many unaware that they are vulnerable until it’s too late. Consider creating an encrypted email account for all of your crypto dealings to ensure your information is safe and secure at all times. Proton Mail is a great choice.
- Practice strong password management. Gone are the days of using your firstborn’s name with the month and day they were born at the end for virtually everything Not only should you use highly sophisticated passwords consistently, but you also should also keep them written down manually and never store them on a device that is connected to the internet. Using the copy and paste feature is really handy especially for those long, complicated codes but they are at risk when stored in your device (in your iPhone notes, for example). You should change your passwords regularly and never use the same password twice. Adding two-factor authentication can bolster the security of your online identity as well. Last Pass is excellent.
